Bonnie is a CFP® professional, attorney, and partner at Blazing Star Financial based in Rossville, Kansas, where she lives with her husband and three children.

Her legal background sharpens the way she approaches tax strategy, small business structure, and compliance in ways that a traditional planning background alone wouldn't. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Accredited Financial Counselor® designations, reflecting expertise across both comprehensive planning and financial counseling, and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation, meaning she is held to the highest standard of care when it comes to investment decisions. She is also a Certified Advisor for Women and a Psychology of Financial Planning Affirming Advisor.

Bonnie founded Blazing Star Financial in 2021 with a straightforward conviction: that people who have been historically overlooked by the financial industry deserve the same quality of advice as everyone else. That means women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC communities, working- and middle-class families, and anyone who has ever assumed a financial planner wasn't for someone like them. In 2024 she welcomed Cale Yost as an equal partner, and together they have built a firm that reflects both of their beliefs about what financial planning should look like and who it should serve.

Cale is a retired Kansas Air National Guard veteran and CFP® professional based in Lawrence, Kansas, where he lives with his wife and three daughters.

A meeting with a financial planner while preparing for eventual military transition sparked an interest in helping others navigate their own financial lives. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Retirement Income Certified Professional® designations while continuing to serve. He joined what is now Blazing Star Financial and became a full partner in 2024, bringing a specialization in tax planning and retirement income strategies that helps clients move from accumulation to income with clarity and confidence.

Cale grew up in a small town in western Kansas and has lived in the Lawrence area since 2009. That background informs how he works: practically, without pretense, and with genuine appreciation for the communities he serves. He was drawn to Bonnie's vision for Blazing Star Financial because it matched his own: that deliberately choosing to serve people who have been historically overlooked by the financial industry matters, because access to good financial advice is part of what makes a more equitable world possible.
